Paris

Saturday, April 12, 2014

It's been a long time since I have blogged. A full time job, plus a part time business equals no time to blog. One of my reasons for this visit was to close down the site. That is until I saw my numbers from last month. 81 hits for a blog with old news....It made me think that I need to utilize the site, change it up, relaunch. I have always loved the name of the blog, but if given a choice today I would make it much simpler, some thing easy to remember and in English. I named my blog something in the French language when I don't speak the language, how pretentious! Any way I am stuck with it!

Some good news ! Closed my shop and have trip to the UK and France in May.
I will blog my way across France.

I saw this darling little cottage in my travels this am. They were having a "cottage sale" so I took some shots.

It is a 100 degrees today in the valley, I am hiding out in my air conditioned  sewing room. Making cute pillow cases and finishing some projects that have been hanging  around awhile.

Sweet old quilt a friend sold to me. It is needing a bit of repair.

Joined a quilt guild last year, I have yet to make a stitch. We have so  many talented people in our guild it is rather intimidating.

Seasons

It's starting to look alot like fall. Here in California I am sure it is much more subtle than in the mid west, and back east. The mornings are crisp, and the evenings are cooling off...time for a sweater or hoodie is right around the corner.

It's time to pull the vegetable plants from the garden.  It's not one of my favorite jobs, but sometimes you get some surprises. Very large cucumbers and  just massive eggplants from my garden

The Bryson's  planned for and found this baby in their garden. It weighed close to 2,000 lbs. I certainly would not miss that ....can you imagine the pumpkin pies you could make.

Speaking of pumpkin pies and the wonderful smell when they are  baking...I bought some scented candle squares to make me more in the mood for the change in the season. Pumpkin pie and carrot spice cake should get me in the mood.

I included the brown sugar and caramel, butterscotch      candies, because they are just plain yummy. It is also the time of year that we start buying those big bags of candy for the trick or treat...unfortunately lots of those bags are gone before the end of September.

Autumn is one of my favorite seasons, and my only regret is that it doesn't last long enough. A 1945 french song."Les Feuille mortes"
or as we know it, "Autumn Leaves"

The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sun-burned hands I used to hold

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

The French translation is "Dead Leaves"

                                                              SPRING IS COMING

Itching to get out side and dig in the the dirt, but I also have a lot of sewing to do and  spring cleaning (woe is me) My poppies are blooming and I haven't weeded the garden yet.  The fruit trees are blooming, and although they make me sneeze, the air is sweet.

Dear Lola is very tired, so many new smells, and new cats in the neighborhood..I am staying fit, she wants to go out the back door all day, no doggy door for me !

Spring makes me think of new beginnings, weddings, births and babies...
